Recapture: To Begin Again

Every New Year brings with it the promise of being able to start anew and like everyone else, I look forward to the opportunity to begin again. Towards the end of each year, I take time to seek the Lord for direction for the upcoming new year and usually I receive the impression of a word or a phrase which will point me in a specific direction. The word for 2014 was Recapture.
recapture: to catch again someone or something that has escaped; to gain control again of a place or position again after losing it; to experience again or bring back a feeling, quality, or situation
Recapture: the opportunity to begin again. The meaning of the word speaks of being able to  ‘gain control again’ of things I’ve lost or given away either. A chance to bring to bear what I’ve learned in maturity in past situations I wish I had handled differently. It's going to be interesting and exciting to see how recapture plays out for me in 2014.

If you had the opportunity what would you begin again in the upcoming year? Is there any thing that you would like to Recapture in 2014? Maybe you can. Let's talk about it.

  1. Hmmm...I will have to ponder if I would want to capture anything. That is deep, and actually God gave me the word Renewal...so I am focused on renewal, after last year's Release. I am letting go of the past, allowing God to renew me, my focus, and those around me. Romans 12:1-2 are my verses for meditation and reflection. I think I want to recapture the hope, belief and confidence that He can do the impossible...and will. In His time. Thanks for the post, caught you at Barbie's Link up!

    1. Happy New Year, Dawn! I think Renewal is a great word for the New Year. It speaks to the blessing we have of new life in Christ. That's glorious!

Thanks for stopping by and come back again soon!

    1. Hi June and Happy New Year! I think recapturing our quiet time is probably high on everyone's list this year. I know it certainly is on mine! I think your word is spot on - intentional! It fits right into this. If we want it, we are going have to be diligent in acquiring it for ourselves. Good word!

God Bless and visit again anytime!

  3. I am so glad to have stopped here from The Sunday Community. Recapture is a great word. I loved the aspect of being able to experience again, to redeem a situation. I chose "faith" as my word for this year: "And without faith it is impossible to please God." (Heb. 11:6). I want that my life please Him every day in every way. May we both remain focused on our words & grow in Him in 2014! Nice to have "met" you today :)

    1. Happy New Year JViola! Thanks for stopping by!

At first 'Recapture' struck me as a weird word for a 'beginning' as in a new year because generally mostly everyone is focusing on looking forward. Took me a minute to accept it, maybe because I was afraid of getting stuck in the past but the Lord showed me how it was a way of clear out some of the emotional baggage I'd been carrying around (both good and bad) for years. It's kind of like what you do when you clean out your closet. Somethings you have to try on again to see if you really want to keep that ugly dress you loved in the fifth grade or finally let it go. LOL! I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out in real life.

God Bless and thanks for stopping by!
