Original Serenity
Prayer
God, give me grace to accept with serenity
God, give me grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the things
which should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other.
Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as Jesus did,
This sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it,
Trusting that You will make all things right,
If I surrender to Your will,
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with You forever in the next.
Amen.

Hi Janis.
DeleteIt is a glorious picture and it fits this glorious prayer. I never knew we were only reciting part of it. I love the whole thing.
Thank you for coming by.

We had a couple of chances to put this into practice this last week, as we spent most of it without power due to the cold. Praising Him for our wood powered backup stove, so we stayed warm!
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel, LuAnn. We've been without power at times throughout this winter. I hope this is the last of the outages for all of us.
DeleteHave a warm blessed week!

So sorry to hear that weather frustration LuAnn - definitely glad you have the backup wood stove!
DeleteStunning photo! and great prayer challenge - TY!
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming by. I love your blog name. It's really cute although it took me a minute to figure it out. :)
DeleteHave a great week and come again soon.

A truly glorious image and accompanying prayer of peace and serenity for our thoughts, our visions and our lives. Thank you for sharing it.

I love the second part of the prayer. I had never known there was a second part but I love it! I'm going to memorize the whole thing together.
DeleteThanks for coming by.

Thank you for your comment on my blog which I read this morning. You woke me up with happiness and helped me get unstuck. It's hard to start writing again and I don't know why I'm limiting myself when I've been doing this for years, but I did. You reached out and I took your hand in mine. I wanted to write something about what your email meant to me, but it would have taken me away with saying today's blog is good enough even though maybe it could have been better.
ReplyDeleteYou crossed my mind and I wanted you to know I was thinking of you. It was entirely a selfish move on my part. I missed my 'prayer partner'. :) As for getting stuck, boy don't I know that feeling. I have all this stuff in my head but when it comes to putting it down on 'paper' I go blank. I'm trying to keep to at least doing a Weekend Worship post to keep the blog from getting too dusty. Things are easing out with my Mom so maybe I can find a little energy to get back to writing.
DeleteSo glad to see you back. Loved your post this morning. It really spoke to my situation and I'm going to look for it on my next bookstore trip.
Hugs and Blessings,
~ Cassandra
