Texas - The New Winter Wonderland

From my Dallas Texas front porch at 7:30 am this morning. Sparkling ice trees. They weren't kidding about the ice storm at all. Dallas is shut completely down. Having grown up in Michigan, I'm used to it and know how to handle it. I'm praying all those on the street were able to get to a warm place.

  1. Ice storms are the worst. I grew up in Ontario, so know how to deal with it, too, but I see too many people speeding along on slick streets. Stay warm. xo Laura

    1. Being from Ontario you know the drill of how to drive on ice and snow as do I growing up in Michigan. There were a few car pile-ups last night. Ice on the roads are especially dangerous at night because you can't really see the ice unless there's snow on top of it.

Most people had the good sense to stay at home today as did I. :) I'm currently in the breakfast nook right off of the kitchen which is the warmest room in the house at the moment. Big pot of navy bean soup on the stove and cornbread muffins in the oven. Life is good! lol..

Have a good warm weekend Laura! Thanks for stopping by.

  2. I copied your last email intending to respond to it, but no. I didn't. When are you moving to the really cold country to take care of your parents? "Some time" sounds pretty indefinite. I wish you well. I have so enjoyed your messages this year. I'd love to physically embrace you to say thank you.

    1. Hi Barbara!

Consider yourself hugged back although I won't be gone from blogging when I move. One of the reasons I started a blog was to be able to meet women in the wider world that I would come across in my daily wanderings around here. Once I connect I want to stay connected. You know how much I enjoy your morning prayers and your little ladies. So glad to see they have a book of their own now! How very cool!

There will be more posts from me after the first of the year and the tone might change a little bit. The nature of blogging can be really complex. Been doing a bit of deep thinking about my writing and where I want to take it and where I want to let it take me. I'll probably blog on it sooner or later once i get it all straight in my head. But I'll be around, no doubt about that.

      Seasons Blessings and Big Hug!

  3. ice storms...ick! The day we brought our preemie daughter home from the hospital was one of the worst ice storms in Ft Worth history, a 10 minute trip took 1.5 hours! We also had one here in Kentucky that put out power for a week! (Thank goodness for a Mamaw with a wood stove!) Stay safe and warm and have a Happy new Year!
