It's A Pajama Party!!!

There is an event being held today which is one of the reason why I love being on the internet. Today is the day for Claudia's Flannel Pajama /PJ Party being held over at her blog Mockingbird Hill Cottage . Those of us who know and love Claudia know of her love for flannel pajamas which is undying! Every so often (at least once a year) she throws a PJ party and encourages us to post a picture of ourselves in our favorites on the web.(Our PJ's, not our lingerie. Just want to be clear before anyone is shocked.) I decided to join the brave ladies this year as I had just received a very cool iPod on my birthday (from my youngest son) which has a forward facing camera so I could take a picture of myself.  Soooo....

Here I am in my little breakfast nook/office/morning room in my PJs with no make up and barely combed hair. It's not flannel but a long sleeved Jennifer Moore knit top (JC Penny's) which I wear along with fleece sweat pants for maximum warmth. I have a number of them which I switch around. I go for warmth, not cuteness when it comes to the serious business of cold weather sleeping. (I can't sleep when I'm cold.) The picture is kinda blurry but there's only me in the house to take it so here we are. Also( just for you, Claudia) over my shoulder you can see one of my beloved pieces of McCoy pottery, my grandmother's Aunt Jamima cookie jar. I grew up with that cookie jar and stole it from my parents house when I moved out into my own home. When my Mom first visited my new place she said, "I have a cookie jar just - wait a minute!" She threatened to do a body cavity search on me the next time I came to visit but the cookie jar was allowed to stay so she could make memories for my own children as long as I promised to keep her safe. She'll probably go to one of the granddaughters or nieces but that is another story.

Rounding out the ensemble is a pair of suede slippers which aren't pretty but are warm as all get out. I love these things. My feet don't hit the floor in the mornings, they hit these slippers 365 days of the year and if I'm not going out, they stay in them all day. On a really cold winter's day, I have a fleece long sleeve zippered fleece jacket that keeps me nice and toasty without turning the heat all the way up as I travel from room to room in my 1920's historical home. No central heating for almost 100 years. That's another story as well.

So that's me, in my PJs/sweats  joining the ladies around the world (there are a couple of international posts) at Claudia's PJ Party! Come join us!!!

  1. I'm glad that you are brave and posted a picture of you in your jammies, too. Sounds cold in your house. Don't know where you live but I hope Spring will soon show up for both of us. I love that you stole your mothers cookie jar. My daughter-in-law did that with a couple of mine things. Keep on being cozy.

    1. Hi Debby, Thanks for stopping by!

I live in Dallas which on the tail-end of a cold snap. It can get downright freezing around here if the weather currents are lined up. I live in what was my Grandmother's house which was built in 1920 in what is now a historical district near downtown. It has 4-inch thick plaster walls which hold either the heat or the cold depending on the season we're in. No central heating (or cooling) but they did have what they called gas wall furnaces in the common rooms, and gas heaters in the rest but they are all independent of each other. Heating can be added but expensive and when I moved in eight years ago, the big money went to the wiring and the plumbing. Who knows when it will be added but it works for now. :)

      Have a good week!

    1. Hi Diane,

The slippers are from Target and they also had them in pink and blue. At least they did just before Christmas. They are comfy and very warm. These were a gift about four years ago and I have since given them as gifts. Everyone loves them.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a good week!

  3. I am so glad you joined in today, Cassandra. You look adorable in your jammies and those slippers look wonderfully warm. No central heating - you are going to have to share more about that sometime as I am very intrigued!

The cookie jar? I would have had to steal it, too! That is a great piece (I'm a wee bit jealous) and it looks lovely in your home.

Comfort and warmth - that's key! Happy pajama wearing!!

    1. Hi Claudia!

This has been lots of fun! That is me straight out of the bed this morning - except I did comb at my hair so as not to scare people.

Once I figure out how to take a halfway decent picture with this iPod thingee, I'll be joining in on A Favorite Thing starting with my house. My house is my favorite thing ever. The cookie jar (which is older than me) has friends...

      Thanks for stopping by!

  4. Can't wait to see your house. Ours is an 1870s farmhouse, so I understand the smart foot gear too!

    1. I'd love to hear more about that farmhouse! Put the coffee on - I'll be over for a tour! Old houses are a passion of mine. There will more posts about my house now that I have an easy to use camera. Also the stuff in the house! Man, my Grandmother had the BEST STUFF EVER in her house! Lots of cool stuff here! New Motto: Have camera, will post! :)

Thanks for coming by and have a good week!

  5. Hi Cassandra! Wasn't this party FUN? I love the story of your cookie jar -- hysterical. I'm sure your mom was glad to realize how loved Aunt J. is! Your slippers look SO cozy. I'm not a happy girl if my feet or neck are cold. I've even been wearing scarves around the house more this winter -- even when I'm not dressed up to go out for the day. I like to be cozy! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Hope you have a delightful day! ~Sally

    1. Hi Sally!

This PJ party was a lot of fun. Only our dear Claudia could get me to post a picture of myself taken first thing in the morning! I hear you about the cold neck. Fortunately that fleece jacket has a high neck which takes care of that. I'm so glad my son abandoned it when he moved out!

Have a good day and thanks for visiting!
